Fashion companies have adopted the words sustainable yet use fabrics made from petro-chemicals. Desipte their claims, materials like polyester are NOT sutainable and are terrible for our enviroment and health.
Sustainable fashion is the future of clothing for a number of reasons. As consumers become more aware of the environmental and social impacts of the fashion industry, there is a growing demand for clothing that is made in a more sustainable and ethical manner.
According to a 2019 UN report, global clothing production doubled between 2000 and 2014, and the industry is “responsible for 20 percent of total water waste on a global level”.
Fast fashion is the mass production of cheap, disposable clothing. To give you an idea of the scale of the problem, the fashion industry churns out over 80 billion garments a year - that's over 10 a year for every person on earth.
