According to a 2019 UN report, global clothing production doubled between 2000 and 2014, and the industry is “responsible for 20 percent of total water waste on a global level”.
Fast fashion is the mass production of cheap, disposable clothing. To give you an idea of the scale of the problem, the fashion industry churns out over 80 billion garments a year - that's over 10 a year for every person on earth.
