Recycle
Circular Economy
Every second, the equivalent of a garbage truck load of clothes is burnt or buried in landfills. In our minds, this is unacceptable. We believe that the future of apparel needs to have a circular economy. We have designed our products to be super high quality and extremely durable. We have also selectively chosen our materials and made it so all of our clothing can be recycled.
It is estimated that 84% of all clothing end up in landfills. Over 70% of clothing that end up in landfills are made from synthetic materials like polyester that takes thousands of years to degrade. Unfortunately, most clothing isn't recyclable, poly-blends (over 5% poly) are difficult for recycling plants to separate the materials and synthetic fibers degrade during recycling rendering them useless and ultimately why then end up in landfills. That's why we developed our recycling program. If you send us used Opok clothing that we determine has some life left, we'll donate it (excluding our underwear line- they go straight to recycling). If it looks too worn, we'll recycle it. We work with a recycling center to recycle our used clothing and ensure that they won't end up in a landfill. You might never have to use this program as our our clothing lasts for years and is built to withstand all types of beatings. But it's here just in case.
